Aliya Lam
Rostering Officer
Aliya brings more than seven years of experience in recruitment and talent acquisition, alongside volunteer experience as Chairperson at her son’s childcare centre. In her current role, she looks after the morning rostering from 6am to 10am, thriving in the fast-paced and problem-solving nature of coordinating shifts. She describes rostering as “solving a puzzle”, mixing, matching, and finding the right fit for both educators and centres.
She communicates with calm and care, building strong relationships that help her understand the needs of each centre and educator. Aliya values connection, listening carefully to ensure every shift is filled efficiently and with the right person. For her, the most rewarding part of the role is knowing children are supported with the right number of staff, giving families confidence that their children are safe and cared for.
Outside of work, Aliya lives a busy and fulfilling life. She is a mum to her young son, a carer for her 100-year-old grandmother, and she also runs her own business, Puff and Pop. When she has time to relax, she loves going on family road trips, enjoying holidays, attending events, and trying new foods.
I Love Working In Early Years Because...
I love working in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector because, simply put, I’m a mum. My natural motherly instincts make it easy to connect with this work, knowing I’m making a difference by providing meaningful support.
