A Week That Reminds Us Why We Do What We Do

Each October, Children’s Week invites us to pause and reflect on what truly matters — the rights, voices, and unique potential of every child.

This year’s theme, inspired by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, centres on listening to children and creating spaces where their voices are heard and valued.

In early learning services across Australia, this looks like the small, everyday moments:

  • A child’s question that sparks a new project

  • A drawing that reveals deep emotion

  • A toddler’s hand tugging ours toward something they’ve noticed

These are reminders that children are not just learning from us, they are learning with us.

Listening as a Practice of Care

Listening to children is more than a skill; it’s a practice of care.

It’s about slowing down to notice what isn’t said — gestures, play, and silence can all be forms of communication.

At Entrée Early Years, we see this same principle reflected in the educators we work with every day: curiosity, empathy, and presence.

“When I really stop and listen to what children are showing me, that’s when the magic happens — they lead the way.”

Our Role in Supporting Educators and Services

As a recruitment partner, our work is about more than matching skills to roles.

We believe that supporting the right educators in the right environments helps create spaces where children are seen, heard, and valued.

Each placement, casual or permanent, is an opportunity to strengthen the relationships that shape a child’s sense of belonging.

This week, we want to thank every educator, director, and service that makes this possible daily.

You are the heartbeat of the sector, and your listening changes lives.

A Gentle Invitation

As we celebrate Children’s Week, we invite early learning professionals to reflect:

  • What does it mean to listen deeply to the children in your care?

  • What might they be telling you through their play, their words, or their silence?

These reflections are where transformation begins.

With Gratitude

To the educators we work with every day — thank you for your presence, patience, and unwavering commitment to seeing the world through a child’s eyes.

We’re proud to support you in creating the environments children deserve.
