H1: Children’s Book Week 2025 – Book an Adventure in Early Learning
From August 16–23, early childhood services across Australia will be turning pages, dressing up, and diving into magical worlds for Children’s Book Week 2025!
This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure,” invites educators and children alike to embark on imaginative journeys through stories, where anything is possible and every page is a passport to wonder.
Even more special? This year marks the 80th anniversary of Children’s Book Week, eight decades of celebrating the joy, power, and magic of reading in the lives of young Australians.
Why Book Week Matters in Early Childhood
In the early years, books were more than just stories. They help children:
- Build language and literacy skills
- Spark curiosity and imagination
- Learn about emotions, empathy, and the world around them
- Develop a love of reading that lasts a lifetime
As early years educators, you have the unique role of making books come alive, and Book Week is the perfect opportunity to do just that!
“Book an Adventure” – Ideas for Early Learning Centres
Here are some playful and age-appropriate ways to celebrate Book Week in your service:
- Storytime Adventures – Create themed reading corners that transport children into the world of the story (think forests, castles, space, or underwater scenes).
- Dress-Up Day – Invite children and educators to dress as their favourite book characters. Take photos, do a mini parade, or let children act out scenes from their chosen books.
- Story Treasure Hunt – Hide story clues or characters around the centre and let children follow the map to “book” their adventure.
- Make Your Own Book – Help children create their own simple picture books or storyboards. Ask them: Where would you go on your adventure? What would you see?
- Author of the Week – Spotlight a beloved Australian children’s author each day, reading their stories and exploring the themes together.
Celebrating the Educators Behind the Story Magic
At Entrée Early Years Recruitment, we know it’s the educators who help turn books into adventures. Your creativity, warmth, and storytelling skills build a strong foundation for literacy and learning, and we love seeing how Book Week brings out the best in our sector.
Whether you’re reading a classic, sharing a cultural tale, or acting out a silly rhyme, your impact is lasting. You’re not just reading to children, you’re growing readers.
